We bring to you some of the most interesting fruits in Pakistan that are not locally produced and require specific climate conditions. After series of experiments these fruit trees are acclimatized to the local climate to be able to produce fruits here. After indepth research and trials we are now able to grow a number of exotic fruits.

Abyssinian banana

Native to tropical East Africa, this banana plant is famous for its unique foliage. Its spine and leaves contain a gorgeous red colouration. It can grow up to 30’ high and the leaves go up to 10’ long.

Snow banana

The most able to withstand the cold from the Ensete Banana species, this plant is native to high altitudes of China. It has a thick, waxy and blue, solitary trunk, huge bluish leaves up to 10’ long, and a huge nodding inflorescence that produces bananas.

Custard apple

Also known as bull’s heart, bullock’s-heart or ox-heart. It is native to the Caribbean Islands and central America. The consists of a sweet, pulpy, cream-white flesh with numerous brown seeds. Custard Apple is also well known for its importance as traditional medicine.

Passion fruit

Passion fruit is a flowering tropical vine that grows in warm climates. They contain a juicy, seed filled center inside a hard rind. Passion fruit has recently gained a lot of attention because it is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins and fiber.

Mamey Sapote

Native to Latin America and the Caribbean, Mamey Sapote Is pink, orange or red in colour and has a soft, smooth texture with mix flavors of sweet potato, peach, honey and apricot.

Kumquat Fruit

From south Asia and Asia pacific, Kumquat is a citrus fruit resembling an orange. It has a sweet yet pungent taste and the rind is also edible.

Surinam Cherry

Native to South America, Surinam cherry is mostly used as a flavoring or base for Jellies and Jams. It has a sweet or sour taste depending on the ripeness.

Achocha Potol

Native to South America, Achocha Potol grows in a cucumber like vine and has pods which may be contain soft spikes. Its taste is similar to a green bell pepper.

Pink banana

Originating from South East Asia, these brightly coloured Musa Velutina plant is a species of seeded banana. The leaves are enormous, growing up to 2’.

Himalayan banana

Also knows as Darjeeling banana, it is a high-altitude banana specie, originating from Bhutan and India. The foliage is red on the underside while the top consists of a burgundy tiger print. The fruit is small and seeded.

Blood Banana

Native to Indonesia, this banana tree is more famous for its ornamental value than the seeded fruit it produces. It grows up to 8’ and the leaves are large with red splashes on the top and solid red undersides.

Mango Sensation

Originating from South Florida, this mango has a striking plum coloured skin. The pulp is yellow and the flavor is mildly sweet.

Lime Finger

Coming from the tropical areas of Australia, this fruit resembles a large chilli and consists of numerous tiny juice vesicles or pearls also known as lime caviar.

Seedless Lime

Emerging from Persia, this lime is absolutely seedless and grows on an evergreen tree without thorns. It is very juicy and sourer than other lemons.

Meyer Lemon

Native to China, this lemon is round in shape and has a sweet yet slightly acidic taste. When ripe it is a dark yellow with an orange tint.

Budha’s Hand

An unusually shaped citrus with finger like strands, native to Japan, China, Korean and Vietnam. The fruit doesn’t contain juice or pulp but has a lemony aroma and can be zested.

Wonderberry (Solanum burbankii) Açai berry

Native to central and south America. Annual plants producing deep blue or blackish berries from early summer till autumn. The plant is bushy and grows up to a height of 2 feet. Ripened berries are great for pies and jams.

Baobab Fruit

Native to Africa this large sized fruit is known for its citrusy flavor and multiple health benefits. The fruit is as large as a coconut and has a velvety shell, the inside is white and powdery.

Carissa Carandas

Commonly found in India and Bangladesh, Carissa Carandas is a berry like fruit used in pickle and spices.

Sugar Apple

From West Indies and Americas, Annona Squamosa Pome or Sugar Apple has a flesh that is fragrant and sweet, creamy white through light yellow, and resembles and tastes like custard.

Jackfruit

Native to South India, Jackfruit is the largest tree fruit in the world and has subtle sweet and fruity flavor.

Elephant Apple

Native to China and India, Elephant Apple has greenish yellow fruit used in Indian Cuisine, Jam and Jellies.

Dragon fruit

Native to America and Mexico, Dragon Fruit has red skin, green scales and has sour taste.

Surinam Cherry

Native to South America, Surinam Cherry is dark red colored fruit with sweet taste and used in flavoring of Jams and Jellies.

Red Strawberry Guava

Native to Hawaii, Red Strawberry Guava is oval shaped, purple colored, thin skinned fruit and has a distinct sweet taste.

Seedless Orange Kishu

Native to China, Kishu is a Sweet Mandarian seedless orange mostly of a size of Golf Ball.

Thai Grapefruit/ Pomelo

Native to Southeast Asia, Pomelo is yellow citrus fruit with white flesh and tastes like a grapefruit.

Chocolate Fruit/ Black Sapote

Native to Mexico and Colombia, Chocolate Fruit has a yellow-green skin and dark brown chocolate pudding like pulp.

Ice Cream bean

Native to South America, Ice cream Bean is bean like pod with cottony pulp which tastes like ice-cream

Star Fruit/ Carambola

Native to Philippines, carambola is a yellow Star-Oval shaped fruit with a sour and sweet taste.

Goji Berry

Native to China, Goji Berry is a Red Colored Berry mostly used in Asian Cuisine and medicines around Asia.

Soursop

Native to Tropical regions of the Americas and Caribbean, Soursop is a dark green and prickly fruit with flavor as a combination of apple and strawberries.

Passion Fruit

Native to Southern Brazil, Passion Fruit oval shaped berry, Yellow or purple colored used in juices to increase aroma.

Lasura

Native to Asia, Lasura is a flowering plant with light pale to brown color fruit which can be eaten when ripe and used as paper glue when half ripe.

Mountain Paw Paw

Native to South America this plant is found growing in mountain villages. When ripe it is yellow and consists of a jelly like flesh with seeds resembling tiny pine cones.

Pepino Melon

Native to Peru, the Pepino Melon is a relative of the egg plant family. The rind is cream coloured with purple stripes and the flesh is sweet and mild like a melon.
